Excursion Blue Wonder
On 30.05.2024 it was time again - the best graduates of the "Technical Mechanics - Strength of Materials" exam went on an excursion to the Loschwitz Bridge, also better known as the "Blue Wonder".
As in previous years, this was made possible by the kind support of GMG Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH, which is responsible for the technical supervision of the bridge. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them once again for the guided tour!
After a brief introduction to the history of the bridge and some interesting technical details, we went down into one of the two anchor chambers where, in addition to various technical drawings, some of which are still original, we were able to marvel at the massive counterweights that have anchored the bridge securely to the banks of the Elbe for decades.
This was followed by the highlight of the excursion: the climb up one of the pylons.
After climbing the rather steep spiral staircase, you were rewarded with a fantastic view of Dresden and the Elbe castles and were able to see the supporting structure of the "Blue Wonder" from above.
The excursion ended with a joint visit to the Elbe Gardens for a relaxed end to the evening.
