Seminar with Prof. Stefano Curtarolo
On October 17, 2024, we welcomed our international mentor Prof. Stefano Curtarolo from Duke University to an exciting seminar in which he spoke about approaches to the discovery of novel high-entropy ceramics.
In his lecture, Prof. Curtarolo explained how ceramics with at least five constituents can be stabilized by their configurational entropy and thus represent promising materials for various applications. His work combines theoretical approaches with experimental methods and shows how AI-based methods can be used to accelerate the prediction of thermodynamically stable structures. New descriptors based on enthalpy and entropy were presented.
We would like to thank Prof. Curtarolo for his expertise and inspiring food for thought, which enriches our research work in the field of alloy design and opens up new perspectives!
