D³ Workshop: Scientific exchange in the Zeunerbau
Scientific exchange in the Zeunerbau!
On March 2 and 3, 2026, this year's D³ Workshop took place in the D³ Creativity Hub (ZEU 340) in the Zeunerbau at TU Dresden. For two days, Fellows and Principal Investigators came together to discuss current research topics, develop new ideas and strengthen the exchange within the Research Training Group.
The first day of the workshop began with a session on research data management, led by P. Träger and S. Blobel. M. Rosenkranz then gave a keynote speech on "What is resilience?", which formed the starting point for an intensive group discussion on methods for demonstrating resilience. The afternoon was all about working together: during an open coworking session, the fellows worked collaboratively on scientific publications and exchanged ideas in an informal atmosphere.
The second day started with a keynote speech by M. Gude and C. Leyens on the application of metamaterials, followed by an in-depth discussion between Fellows and PIs on possible research approaches in this area. K. Kalina then presented the plans for the second cohort of the Research Training Group, which were also discussed together.
At the end of the workshop, individual PhD consultations between fellows and their supervisors were on the agenda. The current status of the doctoral projects was reflected upon and future publication and research strategies were discussed.
The workshop thus provided a valuable platform for scientific exchange, joint work and strategic planning within the D³ Research Training Group. Many thanks to all participants for their active participation and the inspiring discussions!
