Publication of the book ‘Advancements in Pin-Array Tactile Displays’

Dynamic tactile pin array displays are considered the next generation of accessible displays that can display not only text but also graphical information such as geometries, numbers, maps, diagrams and drawings. This book provides an overview of the current state of the art in haptic displays and discusses the main challenges of pin-array tactile displays, covering hardware, software and user requirements. It also explores fundamental approaches to user interface design, including window-based graphical user interface design, multitouch gestures, widget and texture design, and audio and haptics integration. Several outstanding applications, such as tactile diagrams, tactile graphics and tactile maps, are presented in detail.
