Presentation of the Chair of Human-Computer Interaction
Since 2006 is the Chair in HCI at Andreas-Pfitzmann Bau in the campus of the university and led by Professor Gehard Weber. About 15 members of our team are active in teaching and research. Additionally we welcome national and international visitors.
Accessible computing
Human-Computer Interaction is one of the focus areas in research and teaching at the Faculty of Computer Science and addressed by several working groups.
Our teaching includes lectures, exercises, seminars and labs. Labs and student projects take place in the usability lab and the lab for Human-Computer Interaction.
The workstation for blind and visually impaired is open to all students of TU Dresden with a visual impairement . Our working group AG Studium für Blinde und Sehbehinderte transcribes for these students teaching materials and creates, for example, books, scripts, and assigments in accessible HTML.
Research of the chair covers the topc of accessible computing. Several projects are ongoing in parallel. We analyse needs of several target groups and develop appropriate technologies for people who are blind, people with low vision, people with dementia, or people with dyslexia. HCI methods partially must be adapted and extended therefore. Development processes for the design and implementation of accessible user interfaces are reflected in the framework of dissertations and theses.
