Contents
The lecture with exercises presents selected topics and case studies on the interactions between society and computer science, i.e.
- further development of the Basic Law,
- accessibility,
- protection of personal data and
- climate-relevant aspects.
Based on the structure of the Basic Law and the fundamental rights enshrined therein, which are analyzed in their historical context, the effects of computer science on fundamental rights and their connection with the ethical codes of computer science are discussed.
The avoidance of social barriers in particular concerns various interactive systems such as e-learning platforms, digital collections or document formats.
Data protection and data security principles and the analysis of their interactions with society include in particular the design of IT systems from a data protection/data security perspective in order to achieve a socially acceptable balance of interests between seemingly contradictory goals.
In addition, the analysis of the resource consumption of IT systems and discussions on the risks and opportunities of digitalization for the climate and environment are also a topic.
