In our research, we deal with protocol and system designs based on simulation and modeling of wirelessly connected mobile systems. Applications of this research include cooperative autonomous vehicles, swarms of unmanned aerial vehicles, and systems supported by low earth orbit satellites. With the human factor always in mind we focus on highly reactive systems with real-time requirements and widely distributed systems.
Of particular interest to us are multi-technology, multi-radio, and multi-channel systems. These include, for example, those that combine infrastructure-based with ad hoc and mesh solutions, from the “tried and tested” Wi-Fi and mobile broadband to novel methods for wireless communication. For performance evaluation, we also work with and on approaches to model and simulate such systems – from an individual warehouse to large cities and, notably, their surrounding areas.
Our research projects are in the fields of classical automotive, bicycle, and consumer electronics, but also include mobile broadband, logistics, and agriculture.
