DR. GUIDO JUCKELAND BECOMES HONORARY PROFESSOR FOR RESEARCH SOFTWARE ENGINEERING
The Faculty welcomes Dr. Guido Juckeland, Head of the Computational Science Department at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), as honorary professor for "Research Software Engineering". With immediate effect, Juckeland will offer two courses: in the summer semester the course "Introduction to Research Software Engineering", which includes lectures and exercises as well as a separate practical course, and in the winter semester the course "Highly Parallel Programming of GPUs" with lectures and exercises together with Prof. Wolfgang E. Nagel.
Juckeland, who studied at our faculty from 2000 to 2005, is very pleased to be even more closely connected to his alma mater thanks to the Honorary Chair: "The Honorary Chair means that I can now officially and more easily feed our rich experience at the HZDR in dealing with research software back into the education at TU Dresden. This expertise has a high visibility both nationally and internationally."
After completing his degree program in Information Systems Engineering, Juckeland worked as a Research Associate at the Center for Information Services and High Performance Computing (ZIH) at TU Dresden. He obtained his doctorate in 2013 and moved to the HZDR in 2016 as head of the Computational Science department, which was newly established as part of the scientific realignment of IT.
