Badge of honor for AG Services Disability and Studies
Prorektorin Universitätskultur und Internationalisierung, Anja Winkler, Laura Herzog, Prof. Dr. Gerhard Weber, Jens Voegler, Rektorin (v.l.n.r.)
On 8 May 2026, TU Dresden honored members for their outstanding individual achievements and exceptional services to TU Dresden with the Badge of Honor.
One of them is the Disability and Study Services working group, which has been providing highly specialized technical and advisory support for students and employees for many years under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Gerhard Weber (until his retirement) with Laura Herzog, Jens Voegler and Anja Winkler. This includes the preparation of accessible study materials, advice on assistive technologies, TUD-wide software applications, supportive solutions for low-barrier examination requirements and the lending and adaptation of technical aids. The peer-to-peer expertise of Anja Winkler, who is blind herself and thus provides practical support, also offers particular added value. This combination of technical expertise, specialized advice and praised experience makes the AG SBS a central point of contact whose work makes the everyday study and work life of many people seeking advice much easier.
At a strategic level, Prof. Weber has played a key role in shaping the university's development towards inclusion. Through his involvement in the development of the TUD's action plans for implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, he has made a decisive contribution to anchoring inclusion as a strategic development goal for institutions.
