Visions for Lusatia: Research That Shapes the Future

At the annual reception hosted by Ruban-Zeh, mayor of Hoyerswerda, in the Smart Mobility Lab’s (SML) 100 x 100 m column-free, 30 m-high test hall, stakeholders presented their visions for future work at the Lausitz Research Campus of TU Dresden.

Among them was Prof. Uwe Aßmann from the Faculty of Computer Science and his Research Associates, who showcased the work being done at the Future Robotics Lab through various demonstrations. Robots will take on more and more tasks of daily life, interact with humans and with each other, and use a wide variety of sensors in the process. The Future Robotics Lab is researching methods, technologies, and applications for this robotic revolution.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Günther Prokop, holder of the Chair of Automobile Engineering, particularly emphasized the site’s tremendous potential for automated and connected mobility solutions.

Prof. Christian Stegmann, scientific co-director of the ongoing feasibility study on the suitability of the Lusatian granite massif, spoke about the large-scale research infrastructure planned for astrophysics using the Einstein Telescope and its significance for Europe.
