ANIMA opens an Experimental Space at the Kraftwerk Mitte Festival
The ANIMA project opens the experimental space “Bühne ohne Grenzen. Experimente im erweiterten Museum.“ at the Puppet Theatre Collection of the Dresden State Art Collections (SKD) at Kraftwerk Mitte on 5 September 2026. The opening takes place as part of the Kraftwerk Mitte Festival, with a smaller version of the experiment.
The experimental space explores how historical collection objects and museum spaces can be experienced and explored in new ways through immersive technologies. At its centre is the Ritscher family’s marionette stage, which can be experienced from different perspectives using a multi-user mixed reality application. The project explores the possibilities that emerge from combining a historical collection object with mixed reality and shared interaction in a museum setting.
In small groups, visitors can experience and explore the marionette stage in different ways. The experimental space is currently in a test phase, allowing the concept to be explored under real conditions. Visitors’ experiences and feedback are collected as part of an evaluation and contribute to the further development of the format.
From 10 September to 17 December 2026, the experimental space can be visited free of charge every Thursday at 2 pm and 4 pm.
