Dataspaces Event - Visualising Computing
Join Dr Robert Fischer and Professors Axel Voigt, Dirk Brockmann and Matthew McGinity as they discuss the role of visual imagery in their scientific practice. Gwendolin Kremer will give an input on the works of the Dresden-based artist Charlotte Sommer-Landgraf. The event will circle around questions like: What is the relationship between visualisation and understanding? Or what role does aesthetics play in scientific visualisation?

Axel Voigt is professor for Scientific Computing and Applied Mathematics and member of the Cluster of Excellence Physics of Life as well as board member of the Department Speculative Transformation. He works on computational design, multiscale-problems in materials and biology as well as modelling and analysis.
Dirk Brockmann is professor in Biology of Complex Systems and the founding director of the TU Dresden Center Synergy of Systems. Brockmann is known for his work in complex systems, computational epidemiology, human mobility and anomalous diffusion.
Matthew McGinity is junior professor for immersive media design and head of IXLAB at TU Dresden. His research concerns the technology, applications and creative possibilities of immersive media technologies.
Gwendolin Kremer is curator at the Office for Academic Heritage, Scientific and Art Collections responsible for the Art & Special Collections with numerous exhibitions yearly. She is also part of the Schaufler Residency selection committee and the S+T+ARTS program.
Robert Fischer is member of the Interactive Science Lab and engaged in science communication and exhibition development with exhibitions at the COSMO and most recently the //DataSpaces exhibition within the Interactive Science Lab.
