Transitional Provisions for PO/SO - Transition (Mandatory Transfer) to the Master's Program in Computational Modeling and Simulation (PO2026)
Table of contents
Effective April 1, 2026, new academic and specific examination regulations apply to the master’s program in Computational Modeling and Simulation.
Transitional Provisions (§ 10 MPO CMS 2026)
(1) These Specific Examination Regulations shall apply for the first time to students newly enrolled in the Master’s program in Computational Modeling and Simulation for the winter semester 2026/2027.
=> This means that only these Study and Examination Regulations apply to newly enrolled students.
(2) For students who were enrolled in the Master’s program in Computational Modeling and Simulation prior to the 2026/2027 winter semester, unless otherwise specified in paragraph 3, the version of the examination regulations for the consecutive Master’s program in Computational Modeling and Simulation dated April 20, 2018 (Official Announcements of TU Dresden No. 9/2018 of May 5, 2018, p. 66), as last amended by the Statutes of February 18, 2026 (Official Announcements of TU Dresden No. 2-2026 dated March 24, 2026, p. 785), shall continue to apply through September 30, 2027, inclusive.
Accordingly, these Specific Examination Regulations shall also apply to students as defined in sentence 1.
In addition, for non-identical modules, including grades, module examinations already completed shall be transferred as a matter of priority, and individual examination achievements shall be transferred as a secondary measure based on equivalence tables established by the Examination Committee and announced in the customary manner. With the exception of § 21(5) of the General Examination Regulations, module examinations and examination achievements that are not graded at least “sufficient” (4.0) or “pass” will not be transferred. In principle, the module grade is not recalculated based solely on the grades of transferred examination results. Exceptions are listed in the equivalence tables. For identical modules, all grades are automatically carried forward.
=> This means:
- The Examination Regulations remain valid until September 2027, and students may continue their studies and complete their degree accordingly.
- As of October 1, 2027, the Specific Examination Regulations will apply to all students. This means there will be a mandatory transition, and all students who have not yet completed their studies under the old examination regulations will be transferred to the new system.
- The transfer of modules or individual course requirements is based on the equivalence tables established and approved by the Examination Committee.
Exception: Transitional Provision (§ 10 MPO CMS 2026)
(3) Notwithstanding paragraph 2, sentence 2, students referred to in paragraph 2, sentence 1, who have passed all module exams covered by the master’s examination by September 30, September 2027, the version of the examination regulations applicable to them up to that point, as specified in paragraph 2, sentence 1, shall continue to apply even after September 30, 2027, through September 30, 2028, inclusive.
=> This means that all students who have already completed all required coursework (modules) and registered their master’s thesis may complete their master’s thesis under the old examination regulations and graduate.

Assignment Form
For modules and course requirements that are not automatically transferred, you must submit a request for credit transfer. The options for entries on the credit transfer form (available online on October 1, 2027) correspond to those in the equivalence tables.
Module assignments are only possible after the mandatory transfer.
Implementation and Resources
For all automatic transfers of modules and course credits, you as a student do not need to take any action. These modules and course credits will be transferred within SELMA without requiring any action on your part.
To verify your individual academic progress, up-to-date grade reports will be made available to you in SELMA prior to the transfer (mandatory transition) by ... These can be used for the assignment of modules or course credits.
The Fine Print
- If you have previously failed a module exam, it will not be transferred. This means you will have three new attempts to pass the failed exams for the respective modules in accordance with the new study and examination regulations.
- If a required module and the associated final exam have been definitively failed or will be definitively failed in the Summer Semester 2027, a transition to the new study and examination regulations cannot take place. In this case, the module exam that was definitively failed under the previous study and examination regulations will serve as the basis for your withdrawal from the degree program.
