Information on Classes
The Database Research Group is offering classes for Bachelor, Master, and Diplom students of the Faculty of Computer Science. Additionally, some of the classes are targeting students of different Faculties like Business and Economics or Transport and Traffic Sciences.
Teaching
The Database Research Group is offering two lectures for the basic training for different target groups: „Data Management Foundations“ for students of Computer Science and related courses of studies, and "Database Engineering“ for students of other faculties.
As a specialization in the field of data mangement, we are offering a wide-ranging portfolio of classes. In addition to introductory and advanced seminars on current topics, advanced practical courses and research projects are being offered every semester for an in-depth study of both application and systems architecture. The lectures offered vary from semester to semester, but they are mainly based on classes like „Database System Design and Implementation“ (introduction to the system architecture and functionality of modern database systems), „Scalable Data Management“ (heterogeneous data models and distributed database architectures), "Scalable Data Engineering" (more advanced approach to data engineering process, especially for students of computer science and computer science-related courses of study), and "Information Retrieval" (structure and functioning of IR systems and web-based search engines).
The group is also commited to offering courses for students of other faculties, like „Database Engineering“ and „Computer Science for traffic engineers II".
Another important element of our teaching portfolio are student theses on bachelor, master, or diploma level.
