Echtzeit-AGTowards Network-Assisted Capability Management in FractOS
The FractOS meta-operating system provides a runtime for distributed applications and aims for efficient usage of disaggregated systems. Performance and complexity challenges arise in resource access management of such systems. This talk will introduce the FractOS capability system, cover challenges caused by its design, and propose to move the resource access control onto modern programmable hardware to free up CPU cycles for user applications. As the offloading onto programmable networks introduces strong constraints on the design of the capability system due to the limited programmability of high-performance programmable network switches, I will introduce the programming environment used, explain its limitations and challenges and propose a reduced capability system for FractOS, feasible to implement in the P4 ecosystem.
