Hot Gas Test Rig
The hot gas test rig is located in the Merkelbau building (test hall in floor 1).
The test rig is operated at atmospheric pressure and temperatures of 1250 °C. Experimental possibilities are expanded by alternating thermal load (cold air – hot combustion gas) and superposition with servo-hydraulic induced mechanical stress.
Technical parameter
Hot gas temperature: | up to 1200°C
Cooling air temperature (for alternating thermal load tests): | ambient temperature (additional cooling by means of de-ionized water is possible via nozzles
Flow speed: | above 20 m/s (open cross section)
Maximum dimension of investigated specimen: | channel cross section (300 x 300 mm) and length of 500 mm
Superposition of mechanical stress: | static and alternating up to 100 kN Servo-hydraulic cylinder MTS, Electro-dynamic shaker (500 N) |
Applied measurement equipment and control
Besides conventional measurement equipment for monitoring test rig parameter we apply
- WAGO field bus data logging system (60 channels, pressure, temperature, mass flow, sample rate: 300 ms)
- Real time thermal imaging system VarioTHERMTM for measuring surface temperature distribution
- Siemens Logo SPS control system
- Optical strain measurement system (PROGRES C14 camera and analysis software ANALYSIS)
- Vibrometer
