Education and training

Courses are provided in the study programme "Mechanical Engineering", "Process Engineering and Naturals Technology", "Renewable Energy Systems", "Industrial Engineering" and in the "Studium Generale".

Technical equipment

An experimental power plant on the basis of an integrated gas-steam process (GiD) with a 600kWel gas turbine, unique experimental facilities for the investigation of materials and component behaviour under thermo-mechanical stress and a measuring section for the investigation of heat transfer in side spaces of turbine housings are part of the experimental research infrastructure.

Staff

Teaching and the operation of high-quality test equipment require an experienced and well co-ordinated team. For this purpose, we have permanent staff. All doctoral students are financed through third-party-funded projects or scholarships.

Interconnection

The Centre for Energy Technology at TU Dresden is the platform for research in the field of energy technology and engineering studies within the School of Engineering Sciences at TU Dresden. The platform serves for networking within the university and with extramural research institutions and industry.

Since 2006, we have been a member of the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre (UTC) "Lightweight Structures and Materials" in the area of thermomechanics / high temperature lightweight construction, and have an active role within the membership of TU Dresden in the ULM network of Siemens AG.

Beyond the scope of these strategic partnerships, numerous relationships with academic and research institutions in Germany and abroad, e.g. in the Czech Republic, Poland, Sweden, Uzbekistan, Austria and Great Britain, are maintained and there are manifold collaborations with further industrial partners.
