New software relieves SMEs with GHG accounting
ZIM project "Auto GHG Balance - Automated greenhouse gas balancing for SMEs"
The European Union is aiming for climate neutrality by 2050 as part of the Green Deal. Through the Supply Chain Act, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are also increasingly required to present their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions transparently.
Our new research project is developing an innovative technology for this: a software tool that automatically creates product- and company-specific carbon footprints from CAD data. Initially usable for 3D metal printing, turning and milling - and therefore applicable to around half of metal processing - the system offers a practical solution for companies without in-house expertise in GHG balancing. Thanks to its modular expandability, the technology can also cover other manufacturing processes in the future.
