Welding internship: project and practical experience

Participants of the welding internship summer terms 25
During the half-annual welding internship held in the semester break, eight participants had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and practical skills in the arc welding laboratory. The internship lasted two weeks, combining both theoretical foundations and hands-on welding experience.
A highlight of this year’s internship was the group project, where the participants collaboratively planned and fabricated a complex pipe node. Tackling this challenging geometric structure required careful preparation and advanced welding techniques, which the participants further developed throughout the program. The project enabled everyone to refine their technical welding abilities and gain a deeper appreciation for precise workflows.
In addition to the main project, participants had the chance to work on individual projects, allowing them to contribute their own ideas and creativity. These independent tasks expanded their practical knowledge and encouraged the application of welding techniques in various contexts.
The internship concluded with a final barbecue, where participants reflected on their experiences and exchanged insights about their projects. This event offered an excellent opportunity for networking and boosted the sense of community among welding enthusiasts.
We were especially pleased to welcome Nicole Donicke, a representative of the Kjellberg Foundation, who joined us for a stimulating discussion and personal exchange. We extend our sincere thanks to the Kjellberg Foundation for their continued support and for fostering hands-on teaching and training in welding!
