Oscar Kjellberg Prize for Outstanding Thesis

We warmly congratulate our PhD student Jan Aleksander Kieser on receiving the inaugural Oscar Kjellberg Prize, awarded during the Faculty Day of Mechanical Engineering 2025 at TU Dresden.
The award ceremony took place on June 28 and honors outstanding student theses with a focus on engineering sciences.
Jan Aleksander Kieser was recognized for his diploma thesis titled: “Enhancing the Cooling Performance of a Magnetron Sputtering Source through the Use of Additively Manufactured Porous Structures Made of Copper and Copper-Chromium-Zirconium.”
The thesis impressed with its innovative approach to optimizing industrial cooling processes using finely structured, 3D-printed metal components.
The Oscar Kjellberg Prize, endowed with €500, is awarded by the Kjellberg Foundation and is intended for TU Dresden students whose work is outstanding in the fields of joining technology, thermal cutting, or separation processes
