The research activities in the field of laser technology are now covered at the Chair of Laser-based Manufacturing. Current research projects are related to the development of laser-based texturing processes, photonic-based metrology and surface functionalization.

The Center for Advanced Micro-Photonics (CAMP) combines the activities of TU Dresden and Fraunhofer IWS for laser-based surface modification and structuring methods. Within the framework of the cooperation, the partners are in constant exchange to transfer technologies from basic university research to industrial processes. The entire value chain is covered, from comprehensive approaches of simulation to the laser process and optical metrology to machine learning. The focus is also on various applications of laser micromachining, such as microdrilling, cutting and structuring, as well as laser marking and laser interference structuring.

Since 2012, we successfully organize the international summer school "Trends and development in laser technology" in cooperation with the Fraunhofer IWS. Thereby, students and Ph.D. candidates from different countries meet to exchange their latest results on the area of laser technology.
