Review 58th Power Plant Technology Colloquium 2026
On October 6 and 7, 2026, experts from industry, politics, and academia gathered at the International Congress Center Dresden for the 58th Power Plant Technology Colloquium. The conference provided a diverse forum for presenting the latest research findings, discussing technological developments, and exploring new perspectives for energy and power plant technology.
The program included a plenary session, a panel discussion, and nearly 100 technical presentations. The accompanying, fully booked trade show—featuring 112 exhibitors —facilitated direct exchange between companies, research institutions, and industry professionals. A total of 981 people attended in person, and 10 additional participants joined online via LineUpr.
Another highlight of the program was the 4th Student Conference on the circular economy, which took place on October 7 in collaboration with the Innovation & Circular Economy Saxony Association (IKS). In 11 presentations and 8 poster sessions, students presented their research and theses and engaged in professional discussions with representatives from academia and industry. The conference thus offered early-career researchers a valuable opportunity to present their own findings and establish contacts with potential industry partners.
The KWTK’s technical presentations covered a broad range of topics—from the integration of renewable energy sources and energy storage systems, through hydrogen, security of supply, and nuclear energy systems, to the circular economy, digitalization, and operations and maintenance. Topics such as combustion technology, exhaust gas purification, and the further development of power plant components were also in focus. In this way, the event provided important impetus for discussion on current challenges and innovative solutions in energy supply.
