The subject of the course is the energetic (thermal) use of biomasses. After the definition of bioenergy sources, their potential and combustion properties (characterization), the basics/techniques and processes of combustion, co-combustion, gasification and pyrolysis, the technically relevant pollutant components in the exhaust gases and measures to reduce them are taught. Furthermore, biogas production and vegetable oil production are presented. In addition, legal backgrounds, political framework conditions as well as energy efficiency and economic viability are presented. The topic is rounded off with the current state of development (outlook), the project phases of the implementation of a project (process chains) and the description of executed plants. A comprehensive compilation of literature concludes the subject.
