The ANW Chair: Overview
Since 2004, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Alexander Michaelis has been at the helm of the Chair of Inorganic Non-metallic Materials. The thematic focus is on the development and characterization of ceramic materials for high-performance applications. Work is done in close cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS.
The Chair of Inorganic Non-metallic Materials
The Chair of Inorganic Non-Metallic Materials is one of the chairs at the Institute of Materials Science. It has been held since 2004 by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Alexander Michaelis. Eight employees are currently associated with the chair.
- The focus of research is on the production and characterization of piezoceramic fibers and composites, as well as combinatorial microelectrochemistry.
- The chair provides three lectures within the framework of the bachelor and master programs for materials science. These programs comprise the basics of ceramic materials, their processing and properties, as well as selected examples of application.
The Chair of Inorganic Non-metallic Materials collaborates closely with the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS. IKTS makes its infrastructure available to the employees of the chair; several cross-institutional working groups also exist. More about the world of ceramics: www.ikts.fraunhofer.de
