Studying at the Chair
The training offered by the Chair is intended to teach students how to systematically investigate the causes of and prevent material damage. Students are also taught the basic principles of developing a material physics-informed understanding of the deformation and damage mechanisms associated with material fatigue right up to a component’s behaviour under operating conditions.
Degree programmes
The lectures on material fatigue and reliability and failure analysis are part of the curriculum of the Degree Course in Materials Science. However, we also invite mechanical engineering students, particularly those specialising in ‘General and Constructive Mechanical Engineering’, to attend these lectures. The same applies to any interested students searching for a subject for their project work and final year dissertation who are dedicated to investigating issues in the associated areas of construction, production and material technology.
