Materials with their versatile properties are the prerequisite for innovative products. Having close ties between university and non-university research, Materials Science in Dresden makes important contributions to the development of innovative materials and their implementation in groundbreaking products. The Institute of Materials Science

The Institute of Materials Science has three appointed. In addition, there are 6 joint Chairs with other institutions (Leibniz and Fraunhofer Institutes) and 2 Honorary Chairs. The Institute has approx. 100 employees.

A total of around 150 students are enrolled in the Diplom and Bachelor degree programs in Material Science. In addition, extensive teaching services are provided for other Diplom and Master's degree programs at the Faculties of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Education and Economics.
