Why research and innovation collaboration with India?
Information and Innovation Day India
Why cooperate with India in research and innovation: Opportunities and offers of support
On Thursday, 4 July, the School of Science and the Chair of the Internationalization Committee of the School, Prof. Dr. Jan Weigand, invited all interested university teachers and early-career researchers at TU Dresden to the "Information and Innovation Day India". The event served as a valuable platform to highlight opportunities for cooperation with India in the field of research and innovation and to present offers of support. The guests of honor were Dr. Katja Lasch, Head of the DAAD branch office in New Delhi and Director of the German House for Research and Innovation (DWIH) New Delhi, and Aadishree Jamkhedkar, Head of Programmes at the DWIH New Delhi.
India's growing importance on the international stage, reinforced by its role at the G20 Summit 2023, is also reflected in the country's rapidly growing research and innovation landscape. The event offered comprehensive insights into the Indian science and innovation ecosystem as well as the numerous cooperation opportunities available to German researchers. Support services offered by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German House for Research and Innovation (DWIH) were presented to facilitate collaboration between Germany and India.
In addition to presentations by the DAAD and DWIH, field reports on Indian-German research cooperation were presented. These illustrated the potential, but also the challenges involved in implementing such projects. The event ended on a relaxed note with a glass of Lohrmann's Brew, the TU's own beer brand, to which the host invited guests.
