Visiting Scientist. Sabbatical semester from Prof. Dong-Won Kim (Professor for Systems Engineering, JBNU, Korea)

Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), an important acteur in the Jeonju region of Korea, currently increasingly seeking international contacts in Europe, approached the ILK in 2022. In August 2022, the then President Prof. Dong-Won Kim, accompanied by the core team of the JBNU International Office, visited the ILK and signed a MoU for future cooperation with our institute. As a result, a series of education-oriented exchange and mobility activities of JNBU and ILK take place in 2023, such as a Winter School for JBNU students at ILK in February or a Trial Study Summer School for highly talented Korean students on sustainable lightweight engineering, planned for July 2023.

Among these activities, we are pleased to welcome the now former president of JBNU, Prof. Dong-Won Kim, for his sabbatical semester at the ILK from June to the end of the year. Prof. Kim will be conducting research with Dr. Sebastian Spitzer's team (Expert Group Lightweight Design) on a novel advanced adaprive control method to adjust the tool feed rate during machining. The project topic is "Adaptive Feed Control for CNC Machining using Reference Load Control Curves." In addition to the research work, the partnership between the ILK and the JBNU will be strengthened, future collaborations will be initiated, and the framework for student and teaching exchange will be expanded.
