The ILK congratulates Dr.-Ing. Daniel Köhler on successfully completing his doctoral degree
On October 9, 2026, Dipl.-Ing. Daniel Köhler defended his dissertation at the Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology (ILK) at TU Dresden on the topic “Development of Methods for Analyzing Deformation and Damage Processes in Clinched Joints Using In-Situ Computed Tomography.” The methodology developed provides new insights into the evolution of phenomena within mechanical joints and thus offers important findings for the validation of numerical simulation models.
The doctoral committee consisted of the chair, Prof. Dr. Alexander Brosius (Institute of Manufacturing, TUD), the reviewers Prof. Dr. Maik Gude (ILK, TUD) and Prof. Dr. Tino Hausotte (Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg), the examiner Dr. Jörn Jaschinski (ILK, TUD), and Prof. Dr. Hans Christian Schmale (Institute of Manufacturing, TUD).
His scientific work was recognized with the conferral of the academic degree and the distinction “magna cum laude.”
The ILK extends its warmest congratulations to Dipl.-Ing. Daniel Köhler and recognizes his scientific achievements in the field of methodological advancements for the analysis of clinch joints. The Institute wishes him all the best and continued success in his future scientific and professional career.
