Dresden Science Night: We're in – this year at the PEZ

Die Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften. Wir sind dabei.
On Friday, 20 June 2025, it's that time again: Dresden’s Science Night invites you to experience cutting-edge research up close.
We’ll be part of it – with a diverse program for anyone interested in engineering, advanced materials, and future-ready production technologies. As the Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology, we are rooted in mechanical engineering, yet our work goes far beyond. We develop materials, processes, and components for tomorrow’s challenges. From sustainable mobility and energy-efficient production to modern material systems – our research blends traditional engineering disciplines with new approaches and applications.

Lageplan zur LNDW. Besuchen Sie uns im PEZ.
Starting at 5 PM, we’ll open the doors of the Process Development Center (PEZ) at Holbeinstraße 6. If you’ve ever wanted to see how fiber-reinforced composites become highly precise structural parts – this is your chance!
What to expect
- Discover technology hands-on for kids and families
Our children’s program brings engineering to life: through fascinating experiments, hands-on activities, and lots of opportunities to explore and play. Young visitors will discover how research works – and how much fun science and technology can be. - Live demonstrations of our large-scale production systems
Watch components being shaped under 3000 tons of pressure and targeted heat. Our multifunctional production lines show what modern lightweight manufacturing is capable of today. - Interactive stations for exploring and understanding
Recycling, robotics, material processing – at various stations, our researchers explain key PEZ topics in a vivid, accessible way. Even visitors without technical backgrounds will gain fascinating insights into advanced technologies. - Guided tours and conversations with our researchers
What does the path from raw material to final component look like? Which new methods are currently under development? Our experts will be on hand to answer your questions and share insights into ongoing projects and research areas.
Come by, experience advanced manufacturing up close, and get to know our research in person – we look forward to welcoming you!
