Newly elected ESCM Board of Directors.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Maik Gude, Director of the Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology (ILK) at TU Dresden, was elected Vice President and member of the Executive Board of the European Society for Composite Materials (ESCM) during this year's European Conference on Composite Materials (ECCM22). Held in Oslo from 21 to 25 June 2026, ECCM22 is regarded as Europe's largest scientific conference dedicated to composite materials. The ESCM is the leading European scientific society in the field of composite materials and serves as the patron of the ECCM conference series. In TU Dresden's bicentennial year, Prof. Gude will also serve as Conference Chair of ECCM23, which will be held in Dresden in 2028 and is expected to attract more than 1,500 participants from academia and industry.
ILK contributed a total of 18 scientific presentations to ECCM22. Researchers from the institute presented current research findings and ongoing developments across various fields of composite materials research and engaged in scientific exchange with international research institutions and industry partners.
Held every two years at rotating venues across Europe, the European Conference on Composite Materials is one of the world's leading conferences in the field of composite materials. This year's conference, hosted by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Oslo, brought together around 1,500 participants from 52 countries. The scientific programme featured approximately 1,000 oral presentations and 270 poster presentations, with more than 560 students taking part in the event.
The next European Conference on Composite Materials (ECCM23) will take place from 27 to 30 June 2028 at Messe Dresden, Germany. Further information is available at www.eccm23.eu.
