TU Dresden visits Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore
Together with the Rector of the TU Dresden, Prof. Hans Müller-Steinhagen, and the Prorector for Education and International Affairs, Prof. Hans Georg Krauthäuser, ILK Board Spokesman Prof. Maik Gude visited the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore on 1st and 2nd of October 2019. NTU is considered as one of the top universities in Asia and one of the world's best young elite universities, which have been founded in the last 50 years.
The TU Dresden and the NTU Singapore established their cooperation in 2015 with a cooperation agreement, in the course of which a student and academic exchange was initiated. The ILK in turn works closely with the RollsRoyce@NTU Corporate Lab within the framework of the University Technology Centre network of the aero engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce.
The aim of the group trip was to intensify the cooperation between the two universities by joint training and PhD programmes. Furthermore, collaborative projects in individual scientific disciplines and across several scientific disciplines were planned in order to strengthen the academic exchange.
The extensive programme took the guests from Dresden to the RollsRoyce@NTU Corporate Lab, where the joint research topics with the ILK in the fields of Smart Structures, Digital Twins, AI, VTOL systems and electrical machines were discussed. The delegation also visited the Air Traffic Management Research Institute (ATMRI), the Singapore Centre for 3D Printing (SC3DP) and the Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC).
This was followed by an appointment with the German Ambassador in Singapore, Dr. Ulrich Sante, to discuss future activities of the TU Dresden in Singapore. Afterwards, the President of NTU Singapore, Prof. Subra Suresh, welcomed the delegation and the next stage of cooperation was coordinated. The two-day visit ended with a reception by the German Embassy on the German Unity Day.
