Materials for sustainable energy management: Hydrogen storage in solids/ Li-ion batteries
ENERGY: CONVERSION * TRANSPORT * STORAGE
Contents:
The development of new functional materials suitable for economic and ecological, in other words sustainable, energy applications is in the focus of the project. Main topics are the energy conversion, transport und storage. For reduction of fossil fuel consumption the development of new materials is a key issue.
Objectives:
- Development of non-conventional materials for solid state hydrogen storage as well as for Li-ion batteries utilizing new findings in nanotechnology during synthesis and characterisation of the materials and the optimization of their kinetics
- Mechanistic understanding of the absorption and desorption processes as well as the phenomenon of degradation on the micro and the nano-scale
- Optimization of cycle life, cycle stability and safety aspects
