C1 - NanoWearJoin
New Production Technologies Based on Nanoparticles and Nanocoatings
CARBON NANOTUBES * COATING AND FUNCTIONALIZATION * LOCAL WEAR RESISTANCE * NANO-BASED JOINING
Contents:
Fabrication of wear resistant lightweight construction materials like Al, Mg, and Cu, and of components with local wear resistance. The production of the entire value chain, namely, from specially modified nanoparticles and carbon nanostructures, through to their integration into finished components will be established. The results are of particular importance for light weight, energy and environmental technologies.
Objectives:
- To ensure good bonding between the nanoparticles and metal matrices, specifically adapted nanoparticles and tailored, coated or functionalized nanostructures will be produced
- Integration of the particles and nanostructures (e.g. nanotubes) into lightweight construction materials, components and devices
- The used nanoparticles, nanostructures and their functionalized versions (e. g. tailored nanocoatings) as well as the reactive nanolayers will be exploited for the development of new joining/welding methods which will be tested on various different components.
