Rolls-Royce hosts top-class partner meeting at TUD
The exclusive meeting of Rolls-Royce engineers and scientists - only long-standing research partners are invited - serves to inform the research partners about current economic and technical developments at Rolls-Royce as well as about the strategic and technological orientation of Rolls-Royce.
Rolls-Royce is one of the world's leading manufacturers of propulsion systems for aviation, ground and marine mobility and has an excellent global research network.
Thus, renowned German and British research partners of Rolls-Royce, as well as representatives of the project sponsors and experts met on 5 and 6 September in the Dülfersaal of the TU Dresden for the annual Rolls-Royce Research Partner Seminar. In connection with the 25th anniversary of the Institute for Lightweight Structures and Plastics Technology the annual seminar took place for the first time at one of the 31 Rolls-Royce UTCs (University Technology Centre) worldwide and not at Rolls-Royce Deutschland in Blankenfelde near Berlin.
The conference was opened by Prof. Gerhard Rödel, Vice Rector for Research, who in his welcoming address referred to the importance of intensive cooperation with Rolls-Royce. "The integration of our university into Rolls-Royce's worldwide research network of 31 University Technology Centres is a recognition of the excellent work of our scientists and the professional transfer of the knowledge gained to industry", said Prof. Rödel.
The event focused in particular on the possibilities for developing low-emission or even zero-emission aircraft engines.
TU Dresden and Rolls-Royce are linked by a long-standing, trusting partnership. The Dresden UTC for "Lightweight Structures and Materials and Robust Design" - headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Maik Gude - was founded in 2006.
