Research field Space Propulsion and Future Concepts

The focus of this research area is on highly innovative aerospace propulsion systems. Our research topics include miniaturised electric drives for high-precision position control applications, as well as height-adaptive nozzles for sounding rockets. With our novel concepts and ideas, we also challenge the limits of what is technically feasible. We have committed ourselves to testing revolutionary new approaches ("breakthrough propulsion physics").

Staff at the chair

Currently, more than 20 scientists covering a broad field of science, are working at the Chair of Space Systems. In addition to the scientific staff, numerous academic and student assistants are involved in the projects of the chair.

Chair of Space Systems

For 20 years, the Chair of Space Systems has been an integral part of the Institute of Aerospace Engineering and TU Dresden. The chair has taken up the cause of not only imparting knowledge in the field of aerospace technology to its students, but also giving practical training. Besides teaching, research is equally at the focus of the chair. Novel pioneering technological approaches are being pursued in the current research priority areas of the chair (propulsion systems and future concepts, small satellites, energy systems and mobile applications).
