From 2001 to 2011, research was carried out in cooperation with Bosch Rexroth AG on the development of a thermohydraulic FKM. The last project funded by the BMWi ended with the construction and commissioning of various FKM prototypes (15 kW hydraulic power) and with an application in a 2.5 t forklift. It was based on theoretical and experimental studies on thermohydraulic free-piston machines, three-dimensional flow simulations of gas exchange, injection and the combustion process using directly coupled simulations, as well as modeling and real-time simulation.
