Launch of the joint project "OekEffDatA"
We are pleased to announce the start of the joint project "Data-driven System Monitoring and Design for Ecological Efficiency in Operation" (OekEffDatA) on January 1st, 2023. The project is funded for three years by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and aims to improve the energy efficiency of pneumatic drive and vacuum systems. It is conducted in close cooperation between two research institutes (Fluidtronics at TU Dresden and ISYS at the University of Stuttgart), a supplier of vacuum components and systems (J. Schmalz GmbH), and two machine manufacturers (XENON Automatisierungstechnik GmbH and TRUMPF Sachsen GmbH).
The project involves the development of methods and concepts for increasing the energy efficiency of pneumatic drive and vacuum systems, which will be implemented directly in customer plants. The following goals are pursued in the project:
- Development of methods for detecting and predicting fault conditions in pneumatically operated systems using machine learning algorithms,
- development of fault-tolerant adaptive operating concepts through control engineering measures,
- ecological balancing of pneumatic systems,
- development of a design method for pneumatic drive and vacuum technology, considering technical (performance), economic (total cost of ownership TCO), and ecological indicators (energy efficiency and carbon footprint), and
- transfer of developed solutions to industrial practice.
