Groundbreaking in Görlitz: A New Chapter for CFLab
A major milestone for digital construction in the Lusatia region: On August 22, 2025, the groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of construction for the new CFLab site in Görlitz. As one of the founding chairs, we are following this development with great enthusiasm.
€6.2 Million for Innovation and Structural Change
At the ceremony on the test site at Klingewalder Höhe, State Minister Regina Kraushaar presented a funding decision of €6.2 million from the Coal Regions Investment Act (InvKG). This brings total funding to over €15 million.State Minister Kraushaar emphasized:"Over 15 million euros that not only advance innovation and sustainability in construction, but also give momentum to structural change in Lusatia."
What Is Being Built
On a 2-hectare site, a machine hall with offices, laboratories, and co-innovation spaces is being constructed. Key research areas include:
- Digital construction site laboratory
- Construction robotics
- Additive manufacturing / 3D concrete printing
The facility is scheduled to open in October 2026.
Prof. Weber on the Project's Vision
Our chair holder Prof. Dr. Jürgen Weber, also CFLab Managing Director, highlighted at the ceremony:"With the Construction Future Lab, we are creating a place for knowledge transfer and participation in Görlitz that brings together companies, start-ups, researchers, and trainees."
