Hybrid solution for the 22nd Dresden Machine Tool Seminar 2021
This year's 22nd Dresden Machine Tool Seminar of the Chair of Machine Tools Development and Adaptive Controls of the TU Dresden could finally be made up from the previous year due to the improved pandemic situation on July 5 and 6, 2021, and could be hosted under the valid hygiene regulations according to SächsCoronaSchVO. This year's conference venue was the Hamburg Hall in the Feldschlößchen Stammhaus on Budapester Straße.
In five lecture sessions with exciting and varied contributions on the topic of The Machine Tool and its Digital Twin, the 50 on-site participants from industry and research had the opportunity to learn about and discuss new visions and solutions from research and application. During a subsequent tour of the experimental hall, members of the professorship presented the latest research results on the topic to the guests on test benches and equipment.
Due to limited space, this year for the first time there was the option of live digital participation! Thus, the individual contributions were streamed and digitally transmitted to the web. Between 20 to 30 additional participants were able to connect externally this way and experience the event live.
The Horst Berthold Study Prize was awarded again this year as part of the technical seminar. The prize, which has been presented annually to students for special student research projects and theses since the 100th birthday of Prof. Dr. Horst Berthold, founder of the Institute for Machine Tools, on March 21, 2013, serves to promote excellent young engineers in the field of machine tool development at the TU Dresden. Dresden graduate Wilhelm Richard Wockenfuß was awarded 1000 euros for his outstanding diploma thesis on "Development of a functionalized structural component with adaptive stiffness for soft robotics".
