Rheology
Rheology is the study of the viscous and viscoelastic properties of materials. Our research group experimentally investigates the rheological behavior of complex fluids and various composite materials. Research tasks include not only the measurement of macroscopic material response, but also the development and implementation of new measurement methods and special testing devices.
For example, the investigation of the rheological properties of magnetic hybrid materials requires the use of non-trivial measuring cells/rheometers and the generation of special measuring conditions. The figure above shows an example of the study of the coupling of microstructure and flow behavior of a magnetic fluid in an external magnetic field using small angle laser scattering, microscopy and rheometry techniques.
