Content of the course
-
The module develops the student's ability to apply the fundamentals of mechanical engineering to the activities of mechanical engineers in development, design, research, production, quality assurance, testing and planning. The basics of calculating the load carrying capacity of simple components such as: axles and shafts, elementary connections: form-fit (pins, fitting screws, rivets), force-fit (screws) and material-fit (welding, soldering, gluing), shaft-hub connections (force-fit and form-fit connections), springs, bearings (roller and plain bearings), seals, pipelines, gears (gearwheel, friction wheel, belt and chain gears) and couplings (tasks, types and areas of application) are taught to be ready for use. Typical machine elements can be assessed and selected for their suitability for all fields of application, can be designed as a group of elements and can be calculated using modern tools.
