Content of the course

The module provides the basic calculation of load capacity of simple components and includes the diversity of manufacturing processes within the mechanical, plant and vehicle engineering  on the basis of different product and process examples. It integrates ways of thinking and working of engineers in manufacturing as well as the interaction with other disciplines.

The Students

• have basic knowledge about the development, construction, manufacturing and testing of products in the mechanical engineering and skills in dealing with CAD-software.
• can choose, assess, select and calculate machine elements like axles and shafts, elementary connections, force- and form-locking shaft-hub-connections, rolling bearings and journal bearings and gears.
• know which parts of a concern are involved in the production, which requirements define the manufacturing possibilities of a product and how decisions about the production are derived.
• know the production processes, especially their operating principles, the technical recourses and the determined parameters.
