Teaching
Within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Chair of Mechanical Engineering makes an essential contribution to the basic training of engineers from a wide range of disciplines with the course Machine Elements. In this basic training, general knowledge of the properties as well as the calculation and design of machine elements is taught. This includes familiarizing students with basic calculation and design principles, gaining experience in the use of individual machine elements and introducing them to the corresponding calculation instructions. In the course of the technical studies, a deeper insight into the problems of mechanical-electrical drive systems and gear technology is given in coordinated courses. In addition to the lectures and exercises on drive and gear technology, internships and papers (student research projects and diploma theses) serve to impart and acquire knowledge. In the theoretical, constructive and experimental student research projects and diploma theses, mainly subtasks from current research and industrial projects are worked on. Approximately 60 diploma students and interns supervised by the chair prove that they can independently work on and solve drive engineering problems.
