Bioreaction Engineering
The lecture includes basically the following topics:
- Mathematical models for microbial growth
- Mathematical models for different process control variants
- Stability of microbial populations and evolutionary engineering
- Stoichiometric and kinetic modelling of substrate consumption and product formation
- Rate-based bioprocess design
The lecture is accompanied by computer exercises in which students work with simulation software to model bioprocesses.
Workload and audience
- 2 weekly lecture hours in the winter semester (lecture and exersice)
- obligatory for bioprocess engineers
