Otto Hansel Prize Ceremony 2025 at the Drinktec
f.l.t.r.: Dr. R.-O. Hänsel, Prof. J.-P. Majschak, H. Hüper, A. Georgi, R. Clemens
Every year, the Otto Hänsel Foundation awards the Otto Hänsel Prize in recognition of outstanding student research in the field of processing and packaging mechanical engineering. This year's award ceremony took place at drinktec in Munich - the leading trade fair for the beverage and liquid food industry. The Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association, a long-time companion and supporter of the foundation's activities, had invited guests to its stand in "Liquidrom", where the Fraunhofer IVV, other research institutes, universities and companies presented special technology and product innovations. The award ceremony was a special highlight in an overall very inspiring, pleasant and appreciative atmosphere.
The award was presented by the founder's representative Dr. Ralf-Otto Hänsel, the Managing Director of the VDMA Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association, Mr. Richard Clemens, and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jens-Peter Majschak, Chair of Processing Machines/ Processing Technology at TU Dresden and Director of the Fraunhofer IVV.
The prize for the best student research project was awarded to
Mr. Aaron Torsten Georgi for his work on the topic: "Testing a system for generating cavitation jets in an immersion cleaning system based on the model of the pistol crab"
Mr. Hanno Hüper received the prize for the best thesis for his diploma thesis with the topic: "Investigation of the compression behavior during two-stage forming of novel fiber fleeces".
We would like to congratulate this year's prizewinners and say a big thank you to the Otto Hänsel Foundation and the VDMA Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association!
The award-winning work illustrates the high quality and relevance of teaching and research at TU Dresden. They show that studying mechanical engineering is worthwhile - with exciting questions, a lot of practical relevance and great potential for innovation.
