Where do new scientific ideas come from? Often exactly where research takes a short break - in inspiring moments outside the lab. Such moments were the focus of the Doctoral Students Summer Conference 2025, which took place this October at the impressive Ebernburg Castle near Bad Kreuznach.
Vortrag des Doktoranden M. Loist: Bindungspotenzial trockener Fasern bei der Trockenpapierherstellung
20 doctoral students from all over Europe, including three doctoral students from TU Dresden's Chair of Wood Technology and Wood-Based Bioeconomy, presented their current research work on pulp, paper and fiber technologies. The topics ranged from innovative packaging concepts and dry pulping processes to the analysis of individual fibers - an exciting insight into the diversity of European research.
But the conference offered more than just specialist lectures:
Intensive discussions, valuable contacts and initial ideas for future collaboration emerged during hikes, break-time talks and evening exchanges. It is precisely this mixture of science and personal interaction that makes the event a special meeting place for young researchers.
For the participants, the Summer Conference was not only a platform for scientific exchange, but also an invitation to become part of a committed European research community.
The Chair would like to thank the organizers for an all-round successful event and is already looking forward to the continuation in Grenoble in 2026!
