Projects

Research projects form the core of our work at the Chair of Processing Machines/ Processing Technology. These projects usually last 2 to 4 years and are dedicated to specific, thematically defined issues, which we work on either independently or in collaboration with partners. They are embedded in our central research fields of cleaning technologies and processing systems and thus make a significant contribution to the further development of these areas. Lids for glass jars for chocolate cream and similar products is usually made of plastic. The research project aims to develop sustainable cardboard screw caps. We develop an innovative mechanical process for the production of cardboard screw caps and their integration into existing packaging machines. Learn more

DFG Seal Seam strength-optimized Films made from Crystallizable Biopolymers

The research project investigates the structure-changing influences of the heat contact sealing process of bioplastics on the seal seam strength. For the formation of the seal seam, dependencies on material selection, process control during film production, sealing and the microstructure are being investigated. This will improve the potential for use in food packaging, for example. Learn more

Rigid Packages with a Biobased Barrier Coating

An additional barrier layer is often required for the use of cardboard packaging solutions. In this project, a barrier layer based on cellulose is being developed and subsequently applied to 3D-formed papoerboed parts using a spray application. Learn more

Measurement setup for inline material characterisation for a material model to be used in thermoforming simulation

Using 3D digital image correlation and an innovative measurement setup, material data is determined that serves as the basis for thermoforming simulation and quality assurance. A new type of analysis programme is being developed for this purpose, which can determine wall thickness distributions of moulded parts and uniaxial stress levels from the point clouds of the 3D digital image correlation. Commissioning of Intelligent Production Systems - viprosys

Intelligent production systems with multiple input parameters are a challenge for commissioning. Together with our partner the Fraunhofer IWU we want to train a learning controller with artificial data from a virtual representation of the process. This adapted controller is then used for the commissioning of the real production system. Learn more

Current Projects Cleaning Technology
