Review of ADD-ITC 2025 - a successful year for research, teaching and young talent at ITM

In 2025, the Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology (ITM) once again took part in the Aachen-Dresden-Denkendorf International Textile Conference (ADD-ITC), which was held in Aachen on November 27 and 28.

At the accompanying trade exhibition, we presented our latest developments in the areas of:

• High-performance fiber and composite technologies
• Machine systems and smart, AI-supported textile solutions
• Interactive demonstrators and the institute's own research projects

Our stand offered numerous opportunities for exchange with partners from research and industry - and we would like to thank all visitors for inspiring discussions and intensive dialog.

Two VDMA awards for ITM graduates

A special highlight this year was the awarding of prestigious VDMA prizes to two ITM graduates.
These awards recognize outstanding scientific achievements and underline the strong role of the ITM in the promotion of early-career researchers and industry-related cutting-edge research. We would like to congratulate our award winners!

Excursion for our students

As every year, ITM students took the opportunity to actively participate in the conference as part of an excursion. A corresponding supporting program with a visit to the Institute and the Christmas market strengthened the relationships between the next generation of students from Aachen, Stuttgart and Dresden.

During the conference, numerous specialist presentations offered insights into current developments in textile research - with a focus on recycling, sustainability and new technological approaches. Our students took the opportunity to talk to experts from science and industry and build their first professional networks.

Outlook: ADD-ITC 2026 in Dresden

After the successful conference in Aachen, we are very pleased that the ITM - together with DWI Aachen and DITF Denkendorf - will host the ADD-ITC 2026 on November 26-27, 2026 at the International Congress Center Dresden, with thematic focuses such as:

• sustainable polymer material systems,
• innovative machine solutions,
• protective and functional textiles,
• interactive fiber-based systems,
• digitalization and AI in textile production,

and the focus on Poland and the Czech Republic as partner countries, ADD-ITC 2026 will once again be a highlight for the international textile and composites community.
