Gesamtmasche's Technical Committee Visits ITM
On June 15 and 16, 2026, the Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology (ITM) at TU Dresden hosted the Technical Committee of Gesamtmasche. Over two consecutive days, experts from research and industry gathered to discuss the latest developments across the entire textile supply chain—with a particular focus on resource conservation and functionalization, as well as process optimization and artificial intelligence.
To kick off the event, the ITM provided insights into its broad range of research. During a guided tour of the Technika, guests were able to experience the institute’s current projects and technologies firsthand and engage in conversation with the researchers —for example, on pneumatically driven origami-inspired knitted structures, high-performance warp knitting of staple and recycled fiber yarns, and the use of 3D/4D scanning for customized mass production of knitted goods.
The second day featured high-caliber technical presentations by advisors from research and industry. Developments across the entire textile supply chain were presented—including AI-supported inline quality assurance for flexible knitting processes, as well as lignin- and CBD-functionalized cellulose fibers that enable promising new products.
The event offered a unique opportunity for the exchange of experiences and networking between research and industry.
The ITM would like to thank Gesamtmasche, all the Advisors, and the participants for their active involvement and the inspiring discussions.
